Refunds and withdrawal

Last updated: 7 September 2026

Premium is a one-off purchase. There is no subscription and nothing renews automatically, so there is nothing to cancel. This page is about getting your money back.

Who handles the purchase

The purchase runs through Paddle. Paddle is the seller of the transaction (merchant of record): Paddle takes the payment, settles the VAT, sends your invoice, and handles refunds and chargebacks, under Paddle's own refund policy. The person running Comparle only grants the premium entitlement to your account.

In practice: a refund is issued by Paddle, back to the payment method you used. How long that takes is up to Paddle and your bank.

Your right of withdrawal (14 days)

As a consumer in the EU you normally have fourteen days to undo an online purchase, without giving a reason.

For digital content delivered immediately there is an exception. Premium works the moment you buy it. That is why Paddle's checkout expressly asks you to:

  1. agree to immediate delivery of premium, and
  2. acknowledge that you thereby waive your right of withdrawal once delivery starts.

If you give that consent, the statutory fourteen-day right ends. That is the law, not a small-print trick: you get what you paid for right away.

Getting your money back anyway

The rule here is being reasonable, not being formal. Ask for a refund if:

Outside those cases — you used premium for a while and it isn't for you — Paddle decides under its policy. The person running Comparle will usually back such a request if it comes soon after the purchase.

How to ask

Two routes, both fine:

No proof of use required, no questionnaire.

What happens to premium

Once a refund goes through, the premium entitlement is removed from the account. You can still do everything that is free: the daily word, playing blind, your streak, your stats, the free share-card styles, and the pools you already belong to. What sat behind premium — replaying missed daily words, all practice words, creating a pool, the paid styles — locks again.

Your account stays, and your game history stays. Pools you created keep working for their members; you just can't create new ones. If you want the account gone too, you delete it yourself at my.comparle.app/account.

Chargebacks

A chargeback with your bank or card issuer is handled by Paddle. It is slower and less friendly than simply asking. E-mail contact@comparle.app or Paddle first — that is almost always resolved sooner.

Questions

Unclear about something, or does your case not fit any of the above? E-mail contact@comparle.app. Whatever the law gives you as a consumer stands in every case; this page does not limit it.
