About Comparle

I am Marco. I am an expat and I still run into words I do not know. From the context I guess what they mean. That is this game.

Comparle is a hobby project, with no advertising and nothing to pay. An account is there for anyone who wants their streak on another device; you do not need one to play. There is an English and a Dutch edition, each with its own words.

How the words are made

I pick the words from dictionaries and word lists. The meanings, the rounds and the stories are researched and drafted with the help of AI. Everything is then checked against sources such as Wiktionary, Duden and DWDS, Treccani, the RAE dictionary, TDK and the OED, in a separate review round before a word goes live. After that I spot-check them myself.

The name

Comparle comes from compare and the French parler. Say: com-PAR-le.
