The story

Goesting travelled from the Latin gustus, taste, through Old French, and picked up a Germanic ending on the way, which makes it thoroughly Belgian. In 2004 the listeners of Radio 1 in Flanders voted it the finest word in the language. English keeps the same root in gusto.
